Amy Secuya may have summed it up best.

“When you have a dream, you want to go after it,” she said.

For Amy and her husband Wil, that dream was to own their own home. At a time when banks are foreclosing on home mortgages at record-breaking rate, the Secuyas and almost 250 other families on the island have built their own home with the help of the Hawaii Island Community Development Corporation’s (HICDC) Mutual Self-Help Housing Program.
