Housing and Community
RCAC works with mutual self-help housing agencies, community housing development organizations, and other nonprofit organizations to develop affordable housing.
RCAC provides technical assistance and training to developers and agricultural worker housing sponsors in the following areas:
- Single family housing production programs, such as U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Section 523 mutual self-help rural housing program.
- Multi-family housing production programs, such as USDA Section 514-516 farm labor housing, USDA Section 515 rural rental housing, HOME rental housing; Federal Home Loan Bank's affordable housing program.
- Housing rehabilitation programs, including USDA Section 504 repair program, USDA Section 533 housing preservation, community development block grant housing rehabilitation and HOME rental rehabilitation.
- Community facilities financing and compliance; and housing counseling and development of demonstration programs, such as single-room occupancy housing, mobile-home park conversions, resident ownership of at-risk property, mutual housing, limited equity cooperatives and land trusts.
- Advocacy and outreach for farm worker housing at local, state and national levels.
- Manufactured home community assistance
RCAC offers technical assistance and training to preserve the affordability of housing in manufactured home communities.
RCAC is a member of the I'M HOME (Innovations in Manufactured Homes) network. I'M HOME is a multi-year initiative that seeks to ensure that families who choose to purchase manufactured homes can reap benefits from homeownership comparable to owners of other homes.
