The Federal Reserve Board is sponsoring a nationwide conference that will explore ways to promote economic growth in Native American communities.
The event, titled "Growing Economies in Indian Country: A National Summit," is scheduled for May 1 in Washington, D.C. The gathering is part of a series organized with the Interagency Working Group for Indian Affairs' Committee who work directly with tribes.
While the overall economy continues to look up as factors including unemployment continue to improve, the agency says tribal communities are still struggling. The event will serve as venue for a discussion of different economic development challenges faced by rural communities and opportunities to expand entrepreneurship and legal structures.
Attendees will include tribal leaders, policymakers, financial industry professionals and community development service providers.
