The White House announced plans for the
"We Can't Wait" program that will help
rural community development by boosting local economies.
One proposed action is promoting a bioeconomy by issuing a Presidential Memorandum to increase the purchase of biobased products. This call to action will create jobs in rural areas where biobased products can be developed, helping agriculture, manufacturing and stimulating local economies.
Additionally, the White House's Rural Jobs Accelerator initiative will fund projects that promote innovation-fueled job creation with the help of $15 million. The USDA will use the Rural Community Development Initiative (RCDI) program to support the projects and provide training to housing and other community facilities as well as promote community and economic development in rural areas in the nation.
The Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Labor will work with community colleges and technical schools that provide resources for those living in rural communities.
The announcement comes in addition to recent initiatives to help rural homeowners refinance their mortgages and a forest restoration project that also will promote economic recovery and job creation.
