The new drug treatment center in Grass Valley is expected to create a number of new jobs through construction work.
Work recently began on the construction of a new drug treatment center in Grass Valley, California, which is being funded by U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development.
USDA Rural Development supplied a $9.3 million, 40-year low-interest loan through its Community Facilities Direct Loan program to Community Recovery Resources for a new residential drug treatment center called Center for Hope.
Sierra Foothills Construction, the company building the center, stated roughly 90 percent of the facility's work will be completed by local workers. Nearly 400 jobs are expected to be created by the project.
Additionally, the facility will provide many services for area residents, including therapy, counseling, nutritional and educational classes. USDA Rural Development estimates the center will help 2,000 patients annually.
More employment opportunities may be necessary to drive down Nevada County's high unemployment rate. According to the California Employment Development Department, the county's jobless rate in May was 11 percent.
