Campground renovations will be conducted with some of the funds from Cowlitz County commissioners.
Projects needing funding in Cowlitz County, Washington, including the expansion of an airport runway and the creation of dry storage units for a local port, have been awarded recent economic development grants, according to The Daily News in Columbia.
Seven different projects received money from county commissioners, the paper states. The amounts range from $17,500, given to Kalama for the installation of highway signs to bring people into town, to $320,000, provided to the Cowlitz County Parks Department for campground restoration efforts.
In addition to grant money, the newspaper reports $27,000 was allocated to the county's Events Center, which plans to conduct a study about possibly adding overnight lodging at the Hoffstadt Bluffs Visitor Center.
County commissioner James Misner said an additional $84,000 of available funding was set aside for other undetermined projects.
Cowlitz County is one of numerous Washington communities to take part in the "Bank On" initiative, The Columbian reports, which provides low-income residents with access to banking services, including money management services.
