Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper, other state officials and various organizations throughout the state are working to create more jobs.

Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper, other state officials and various organizations throughout the state are working to create more jobs.

The Denver Post reports that Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper is working with organizations and groups throughout the state to improve the job market and reduce unemployment.

The newspaper states the Blueprint for Colorado, an economic revitalization plan created in the 1990s by the Colorado Association of Commerce and Industry, is still being utilized today in conjunction with plans from Hickenlooper to guide the state's economic development.

Matt Cheroutes, spokesman for the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade, told the newspaper efforts to better Colorado's economy, including rural communities, are very active this year.

Clarke Becker, president and chief executive of the Colorado Rural Development Council, added the sharing of resources among state organizations to revitalize the employment situation is important for rural communities to grow.

"It is an exciting thing for rural Colorado," he told the paper. "We don't have the capacity to go it alone in many of our rural communities."

While the unemployment rate in Colorado fell to 8.5 percent in June, Alexandra Hall, chief economist with the Department of Labor and Employment, stated it is still too high.
