Residents of the Garcia Mobile Home Park in the Eastern Coachella Valley, California, face government-issued eviction from the community, which lacks proper electricity and a functioning sewage system.

A lawsuit against Rancho Garcia filed on behalf of residents says their safety and health are both at immediate risk due to the poor conditions. However, the owners have stated they don't have the funds to make the necessary fixes. This prompted the government to step in, according to California Watch.

The source reports that more than $2.75 million in updates and repairs would be necessary to keep the park operating as normal.

California Rural Legal Assistance attorney Laura Massie, one of the lawyers representing the residents in their lawsuit, told California Watch the laws in effect to help them aren't being enforced properly.
