An official with the NHA noted the agency is working to help public housing residents in numerous ways.
The Nevada Housing Authority expressed to a local newspaper recently that housing assistance through the organization is available for low-income residents in need.
With 200 public housing units available for lease, ranging from one to four bedrooms each, NHA Executive Director Carol Branham told the Nevada Daily Mail the group aims to help local residents with financial issues secure adequate housing.
"We're not your typical public housing stereotype," Branham told the news source. "We have different challenges but face the same concerns. We try to ask questions, provide community resource information and not assume, so that people will communicate with us."
Branham added that keeping residents of the public housing units the NHA owns and operates is key, as she wants all residents to be engaged and vocal about housing-related matters and issues.
The NHA isn't the only housing organization in the state to help locals gain their financial footing through public housing and rental assistance. Groups such as the Nevada Rural Housing Authority also work to fill affordable housing needs statewide.
