The Community Action Partnership of Northwest Montana needs low-income residents to apply for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development's Mutual Self-Help Housing program in Kalispell.
The Community Action Partnership of Northwest Montana needs low-income residents to apply for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development's Mutual Self-Help Housing program in Kalispell.
The program helps hundreds of thousands of residents nationwide with financing their homes they help construct. The Daily Inter Lake reports 136 homes were completed through the program in the Flathead Valley since 2001.
The organization needs six to nine homeowners to apply to the USDA program for homes to be built in Kalispell, Community Action Partnership of Northwest Montana Executive Director Doug Rauthe told the paper.
Rauthe added Kalispell is a main focus for the Self-Help Housing program, as affordable housing development is needed in the community to meet the needs of low-income residents.
Other housing initiatives also are taking place in rural Montana. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development recently awarded $145,000 for
housing counseling efforts to prevent foreclosure in the state and locate affordable housing for low-income residents.
