Job training will be provided for Native Americans thanks to the USDA grants.

U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack recently stated projects in 15 states will receive $3 million in grants to support small businesses, enhance employment opportunities and help Native American communities improve their abilities through job training.

"USDA is working to ensure that members of Tribes have the tools they need to expand economic opportunities and improve their quality of life," said Vilsack. "These grants represent USDA's ongoing commitment to strengthen Tribes and support sustainable rural business opportunities that will create jobs."

Two states which received the grants are Montana and California. In Great Falls, Montana, the Montana Indian Business Alliance will use the funds to create jobs for area Native Americans. Additionally, Resource for Native Development, located in Ukiah, California, will use the grants to provide entrepreneurial training for local Native Americans.

Other efforts have been implemented to help Native Americans find gainful employment this year.

In Las Vegas earlier this month at the United Association Union of Plumbers, Fitters, Welders and HVAC Service Techs (UA) conference, participants discussed ways to reach and educate unemployed Native Americans about job opportunities in UA trades.
