Following a series of meetings, HOPE NOW revealed additional struggles military homeowners have faced throughout the fall of the housing market, and intends to provide
housing counseling, foreclosure mediation and other services to at-risk military households, which include foreclosure mediation.
A group of mortgage servicers, counselors, investors, regulators and members of the military met to develop a plan to assist military homeowners who were underwater and facing foreclosure due to Permanent Change of Station and other military-related issues.
In order to develop a comprehensive list of practices and standards for foreclosure mediation, a separate group of judges, attorneys and multiple state housing agencies came together over a two-day period.
HOPE NOW announced it will continue to work toward creating standards for foreclosure mediation processes that provide better relationships with servicers for military families.
"The current housing crisis has created a separate set of challenges for homeowners in the military," said President of the Housing Policy Council, John Dalton.
To assist families, Dalton says the Council has developed documents to help save homes owned by those who are and have serviced the country through the military.
