Foreclosure filings rose in Oregon in April, according to a new report.
Though one foreclosure report shows filings fell nationally in April, another states Oregon foreclosures increased substantially during the month.
Figures from ForeclosureRadar.com shows foreclosure notices increased 236 percent in April, as at least 3,700 filings were handed out to state homeowners - many of whom live in rural communities.
Another foreclosure report showed a similar jump in distressed property filings in April. The real estate research firm RealtyTrac stated 3,200 filings were made.
Reports say the considerable increase in foreclosure filings is largely due to court-mandated delays in filings which were supposed to be handed out earlier this year. Regardless, though, many homeowners in Oregon continue to have difficulty staying in their homes.
According to RealtyTrac, a number of states with high foreclosure activity this year are in the western U.S., including Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and California. Nevada led the country in foreclosures per household in April, the firm's report shows, as one in every 97 households in the state is facing foreclosure.
