SHARES Tidbit

SHARES Tidbit

By Nancy Jacobsen, RCAC rural development specialist

ThenewSHARES program roll out is scheduled for late December or early January.

Currently, a select group of test participants including representatives from the T&MA Contractors are testing the new program. Grantees from each region will begin testing in the near future. The new SHARES will be a modern, adaptable software program and will be user friendly. The program is designed to provide efficiency and save time.

National Rural Development requested an updated contact list for all SHARES users and we thank you for your assistance with this task. Additionally, ALL SHARES users must have their eAuthentication log-in current. If you have not yet applied, apply for it as soon as possible. Below are the application instructions.

  1.  Log-in to:https://shares.sc.egov.usda.gov/shares/, click I agree,
  2. Choose “Create an Account” under Quick Links,
  3. Request Level 2 Access
  4. Fill out the form and submit. You will receive verification within one day and will have to have your ID verified in person by the nearest Rural Development Security officer to verify your identity. Access will be granted once this step is completed.
  5. If you have SHARES access but it has lapsed choose “Update Account” under the Quick Links, Step 2 above.

Keep in mind that your password is only good for six months and you cannot use dictionary words. When it is time to change your password, simply choose another letter to capitalize. For example, if I chose “Diggy28*” when the time comes to update it, I could then use “dIggy28*”.

As always, your comments and suggestions for items to include in SHARES Tidbits are welcome. If you need SHARES help, you may contact your technical assistance provider or Nancy Jacobsen at (406) 579-5202; or e-mail at njacobsen@rcac.org.
