RCAC receives 2007 SWEL Award

April 24, 2007

Sacramento, Calif. –Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC) recently was named one of the best places to work in Sacramento. RCAC received the 2007 Sacramento Workplace Excellence Leader (SWEL) Award under the small nonprofit organization category during a ceremony held April 24 at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Sacramento.

“We at RCAC have always known what a great place this is to work,” said RCAC’s CEO, William French. “But it’s very gratifying to have others acknowledge RCAC’s great staff and management in this way. We’re honored to have received this award.”

The Sacramento Area Human Resource Association hosted the event in partnership with the Sacramento Bee newspaper. Organizations are nominated by their employees based on unique and excellent human resource practices. More than 100 companies were nominated to compete for awards in three categories: nonprofit, profit and government agency public sector. Under each category, the companies were then broken down by size – small, medium or large.

More than 500 people attended the SWEL Awards dinner and ceremony. French accepted the award on behalf of RCAC. Judy Andrews, RCAC’s human resource manager, attended the celebration along with several members of the RCAC staff.

French said receiving the award this year is especially meaningful, as he will be retiring from RCAC—the organization he helped found in 1978—at the end of this year.
