San Pasqual, CA — San Pasqual residents interested in
facilitating positive change in their communities are invited to take part in a
unique leadership training program. The San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians
Tribal Council and San Diego Foundation are partnering with Rural Community
Assistance Corporation (RCAC) to host the leadership program.
Taught over the course of four two-day trainings in four
months, the leadership development curriculum includes eight modules designed
to help participants gain skills and tools to enable them to become better
leaders who effectively collaborate to get things done. The first module begins
Thursday, June 27 and will be held at the San Pasqual Tribal Hall.
Thus far, RCAC has trained more than 450 new leaders in
communities from Hawaii to New Mexico. As part of the training, the group conceives
designs and executes a class project that directly benefits their community.
Leadership training class projects give participants real
experience using the tools and concepts they learn in the course. Projects from
leadership classes have included a community website; a nonprofit social
services agency; a revitalized senior center; community beautification
programs; park renovation and improvement; and a youth summit.
Applications for
participation are now being accepted. Contact Erica Cullwell at (760) 749-3200 ext.
406 or by e-mail at EricaCullwell@sanpasqualtribe.org. Space is limited and interested residents
should complete an application as soon as possible.
