West Sacramento, Calif. — California Technical Assistance Providers
(CalTAP) are holding a free small water systems fair in Ukiah, California on
May 22 from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. CalTAP offers onsite technical
assistance, free workshops and fairs, and other resources for water
professionals throughout the state.
CalTAP providers include
the California Department of Public Health, California Rural Water Association,
California State University, Sacramento - Office of Water Programs, Rural
Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC), Self-Help Enterprises, University of
California, Davis and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
During the morning
session of the small water systems fair, CalTAP providers will offer brief
presentations highlighting their services. Bruce Macler, U.S. EPA, will give an
update on drinking water regulations. The CalTAP providers will then be
available to answer questions and provide information regarding resources.
The afternoon session
offers breakout sessions and an opportunity for water utilities to take the
technical, managerial and financial (TMF) tune-up, a free online tool to help
water systems assess their strengths and weaknesses. It provides them with
relative scores in each of the TMF categories and a list of resources tailored
to their water system’s needs.
Two other water
training opportunities are planned during May in the surrounding area. RCAC will offer a water emergency and disaster
response planning workshop on May 21 in Ukiah, California. This workshop will
provide water system personnel with the information and resources to respond
preemptively and proactively to most emergency situations. On May 23, RCAC will
hold a surface water treatment compliance workshop in Clearlake, California.
This workshop will provide water system personnel with an overview of surface
water treatment rules and regulations as well as basic treatment methods and
technologies.
