San Joaquin Valley, CA — San Joaquin Valley residents interested in facilitating positive change in their communities are invited to take part in a unique leadership training program. The Community Water Center (CWC) Self Help Enterprises (SHE) and the San Joaquin Valley Rural Development Center (SJV-RDC) are partnering with Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC) to host the leadership program.
Taught over the course of four weekends in four months, the leadership development curriculum includes eight modules designed to help participants gain skills and tools to enable them to become better leaders who effectively collaborate to get things done.
Thus far, RCAC has trained more than 450 new leaders in communities from Hawaii to New Mexico. As part of the training, the group conceives designs and executes a class project that directly benefits their community.
Leadership training class projects give participants real experience using the tools and concepts they learn in the course. Projects from leadership classes have included a community website; a nonprofit social services agency; a revitalized senior center; community beautification programs; park renovation and improvement; and a youth summit.
Applications for participation are now being accepted. Contact Sue Ruiz at (559) 802-1687 or by e-mail at suer@selfhelpentperprises.org. For Spanish speakers, please call Abigail Solis at (559) 733-0219 or email at Abigail.solis@communitywatercenter.org. Because space is limited, interested residents should complete an application as quickly as possible.
