West Sacramento, Calif. — Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC) recently announced the re-appointment of Ann Harrington of Reno, Nev., to its 11-member board of directors.
“Ann has a deep understanding of RCAC’s history and our goals and visions,” said RCAC Chief Executive Officer, William French. “She adds an important element to our diverse board.”
Headquartered in West Sacramento, California, and serving 13 Western states, RCAC provides technical assistance and training to rural communities seeking to develop a wide range of community services including, among other things, affordable housing and water treatment facilities. RCAC has a four-person Reno office and a total of five staff members working in the state. The organization also operates a loan fund with nearly $60 million in lending capital that provides low-interest loans and grants to further these communities’ goals.
RCAC’s board members serve three-year terms and may remain on the board for up to four consecutive terms. Harrington previously served on the board from 1994 to 2000.
A graduate of Amherst College in Amherst, Mass., with a bachelor’s degree in sociology, Harrington has served on many boards and committees working on housing issues. She worked as a consultant to RCAC during her absence from the board of directors.
Harrington has been a Reno resident for more than 13 years, she and her husband, Gregory (Zeke) Griffin are affordable housing developers. Harrington has worked in the affordable housing field for 26 years.
“I’m really excited to be back on the RCAC board of directors,” said Harrington. “RCAC is a great organization that does so much good for the rural West.”
