CalHFA Awarded Nearly $1.3 Million to Provide Counseling for Struggling Homeowners

Housing Finance Agency (CalHFA) today announced that it will receive
nearly $1.3 million in additional federal dollars to provide free
counseling to homeowners struggling to avoid foreclosure.

Free small water systems fair to be held in Ukiah, California
California Technical Assistance Providers (CalTAP) are holding a free small water systems fair in Ukiah, California on May 22 from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. CalTAP offers onsite technical assistance, free workshops and fairs, and other resources for water professionals throughout the state.

American Rivers organization today announced its annual list of America’s Most Endangered Rivers®, naming the Colorado River the Most Endangered River in the country. The Colorado River is endangered by outdated water management that is inadequate to respond to the pressures of over-allocation and persistent drought.

NRHC Strongly Opposes the President's FY14 Budget
Earlier today, NRHC
delivered a letter to USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack expressing extreme
disappointment and opposition to the President's FY14 Budget Request for
Rural Development (RD) programs, and accusing USDA of ultimately seeking to
eliminate Rural Housing and Rural Water/Sewer programs.
