RCAC receives $45,000 grant to fund tribal water project
West Sacramento, Calif. — Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC), a
nonprofit organization dedicated to serving small rural and tribal communities, recently
received a $45,000 grant from The San Diego Foundation to support a project benefiting
several Native American tribes in the San Diego Area.

RCAC Honors Navarro Resident, Gerald Cox
Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC) will recognize Boonville resident, Gerald “Jerry” Cox for his outstanding volunteerism by presenting him with the organization’s 2006 Yoneo Ono Award at a 12 p.m. ceremony on August 5 at the Mendocino County Fairgrounds in Boonville.

released its top 10 list of Workers in California Who Can’t Afford a Home. The list, based on numbers provided by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, combats obsolete stereotypes that undermine new, affordable-home developments and finds an unexpected addition to the ranks of those already priced out of homeownership: Working Californians.

Taking Salamanders to the Bank
It’s not your average, security guard at the door, friendly teller behind the counter, wait in line for 20 minutes on Friday kind of bank, but it is a true bank nonetheless. Except that this bank stores dirt, trees, bushes and even salamanders, instead of cash.
